Prayer Station 1
Porch Lights and Prayer
Oh, my goodness! What shall we do in the midst of this pandemic storm, the likes of which we have never seen? The answer: As always, look up! PRAY! And don’t just pray. Take this time to create an intentional prayer time in which you truly visit with God. As we are social distancing, what we can do to maintain our sanity? News casts and health care professionals are suggesting that we incorporate structure, creativity, and exercise into our days. That includes prayer.
1) PRAY! It is biblical.
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” - 2 Chronicles 7:14 King James Version (KJV)

Be comforted by God’s promises listed below and find others by searching books you might have, your, and/or the internet.
“In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.” –Psalms 18: 6
“He will respond to the prayer of the destitute; he will not despise their plea.” -Psalms 102: 17
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” – Romans 12: 12
A friend sent me this challenge and I’ve since learned that The Green Valley Baptist Association is promoting it: At 8:00 p.m. each night, turn on your porch light and pray. As we have adopted this practice at our home, I have been reminded of this scripture:
“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” – Deuteronomy 6: 6-9
NOTE: When faced with prayer, many people often aren’t sure where to begin. Follow the link to PRAY for a Prayer Plan and Structure.
